Changing Table for Daycare: What Directors Specify Before the PO

Birch plywood daycare changing station with drawers and casters; title: Changing Table for Daycare
목차

Direct answer

West Shore Furniture specifies a changing table for daycare as an infant-room station — raised surface, barriers, named pad and supply storage — not a restroom wall unit and not a bedroom dresser. US POs that buy a baby changing product cite 16 CFR 1235 / ASTM F2388-21 and a CPC that matches the SKU. CPSC does not certify brands. Put the room and the licensed infant places on the drawing first.

Google’s first page for changing table for daycare is Foundations, Tot Mate, Discount School Supply and Jonti-Craft. Those are catalogues. This page is the specification a director, owner or infant-room lead writes before anyone opens a checkout. West Shore has built preschool furniture in Dalian since 2003. The changing station is one line on an infant-room list, next to sleep and floor play — not a lifestyle photo.

Start from the changing-table collection only after the room is drawn. The pad sits on a wall in 유치원 교실 레이아웃. Sleep is a different durable-product file on the daycare cribs buying guide.

Daycare changing table versus a restroom wall station

Two products share the words “changing table” and almost never share a purchase order.

What you are buyingWhere it livesWhat the PO must freeze
Infant-room changing stationLicensed infant classroom, on a wall the teacher can see fromSurface size, barriers, pad, drawers or cubes, finish, casters or feet, papers for that SKU
Public-restroom changing stationAdult toilet, usually a fold-down wall unitA restroom fixture specification — not an infant-room furniture line
Home changing table or dresser-plus-padOne child’s bedroomUsually the wrong commercial station and the wrong paper trail

If a quote shows a Koala-style fold-down and a birch classroom station as the same line, send it back. The first is for a parent in a stall. The second is for a teacher who still has to see the mats.

What to write on the purchase order

A daycare changing table is specified, not shopped. West Shore will not freeze a colour from a thumbnail.

  1. The room, not the aisle. Infant room, licensed places, and whether the station shares a wall with the sink.
  2. The surface. Raised, wipeable, with barriers that actually retain a rolling infant. A flat mat on a table is not automatically a changing table.
  3. The pad. Name the pad. A contoured changing pad is a baby changing product in its own right under CPSC’s definitions. A flat, non-contoured diaper-bag mat is not.
  4. Supply storage on the same piece. Gloves, wipes, bags and a spare outfit. A teacher should not cross the room mid-change.
  5. Staff side, not child side. Height is for the adult’s back and the sightline, not a “cute” toddler counter.
  6. Feet or lockable casters. One choice, written. Casters stay locked while a child is on the pad.
  7. Finish and coating file. Daily disinfectant. If the piece is painted, US furniture coatings still meet 16 CFR 1303 (90 ppm lead).
  8. The paper trail for that SKU. Not a PDF for a different chair. How to read a report sits on US daycare furniture safety standards.

Drawers and open cubes on the same station keep wipes and spare clothes on the teacher’s side of the pad.

Storage that does not steal the sightline

Open cubes on the child-facing side become a climbing wall. Put teacher supplies in drawers or in cubes that face the adult. Do not park a second tall locker beside the pad “for overflow.” That locker hides the far mat. Leftover millimetres on the changing wall become a custom width, not a hope that a 1,200 mm station will squeeze beside the sink.

US papers a baby changing product actually cites

CPSC’s business guidance for baby changing products is the page to bookmark — Baby Changing Products Business Guidance. The mandatory rule is 16 CFR part 1235. It incorporates ASTM F2388-21, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Baby Changing Products for Domestic Use, for products manufactured after 31 July 2022.

CPSC lists four product types inside that file: a changing table (elevated, freestanding, generally up to 30 lb / 13.6 kg), an add-on changing unit, a changing-table accessory that converts a crib or play yard, and a contoured changing pad. Only those defined products are in the standard. A flat, non-contoured changing mat of the kind that ships with a diaper bag is out of scope.

If your named classroom station is a baby changing product, the importer’s Children’s Product Certificate cites 16 CFR part 1235 – Baby changing products, against a test report that matches that SKU. Durable infant or toddler products also pick up tracking labels, the durable-product label in 16 CFR 1130, and a product-registration card. CPSC does not certify West Shore or any other brand. A logo that says otherwise is marketing.

ASTM F2388 is written for domestic use. That sentence does not give a commercial daycare a free pass. If the piece meets the definition, treat it as in-scope until your lab or counsel says otherwise in writing. West Shore will discuss which 16 CFR parts a named station actually cites. It will not invent a “commercial exemption” in an email.

  • Structural integrity and stability — the station does not walk or collapse under the change.
  • Barriers that retain the child on the surface.
  • Restraint system, if the standard requires one for that product type — and staff still do not leave a child on the pad.
  • Entrapment in enclosed openings and in shelves.
  • Coatings, small parts, sharp points and wood-part rules that sit beside the changing-product file.

Cribs are a different 16 CFR part. Do not file the changing-table report as the crib report. Start sleep on the cribs buying guide.

Send the infant-room wall, not a thumbnail

Share the floor plan, licensed infant places, sink wall and opening date. West Shore marks the changing station, the sleep line and the floor-play mats on one drawing — stock versus leftover millimetres written.

Where the station sits in the infant room

The furniture plan lives on 유치원 교실 레이아웃. This page only freezes the changing wall.

  • On a wall, not as an island in the mats. An island hides children and turns a change into a performance.
  • Next to the sink the inspector will walk to. West Shore does not invent a statutory millimetre from the pad to the tap. Your licence and your health authority do.
  • In sight of the rest of the room. If the teacher’s back covers the far mat, the station is in the wrong place.
  • Away from the crib line. Changing and sleep do not share a surface.
  • With a step-stool only if the drawing already has a place for it that is not a climbing toy.

Same station, factory floor. On site it belongs on a wall the teacher can see from — drawers toward the adult, not toward the climbers.

Toddler rooms are not a second infant wall

Most toddler rooms do not need a second full changing station if toileting has already moved. A leftover infant station dragged into a toddler room becomes a climbing frame. Write the age on the room list. West Shore will not copy the infant SKU into every classroom because the catalogue had a photo.

Factory station versus a two-week catalog SKU

Foundations and Jonti-Craft win the Google shopping strip because they sell a named SKU this month. That is the right buy when you need one replacement station before Monday. It is the wrong buy when you are opening three infant rooms on one finish and the leftover wall is 80 mm short of the catalogue width.

SituationUsual pathWhy
One broken station, opening next weekLocal or US catalog SKUThe factory clock cannot invent a Monday
New infant room or a whole centreFactory order from ChinaOne finish, leftover millimetres written, sleep and changing on the same drawing
Two rooms now, two rooms after licenceCustom versus stock splitDo not freeze a second colour because the first container already sailed

West Shore production is commonly 30–45 days after the drawing is frozen. A classroom package is commonly 10–14 weeks door to door. MOQ varies with the line. A changing station is not a reason to start the clock before the infant wall is measured.

자주 묻는 질문

What should I look for in a changing table for daycare?

West Shore Furniture writes a daycare changing table as an infant-room station: a raised changing surface a teacher can work at without turning her back on the room, barriers, a named pad, and storage for gloves, wipes and spare clothes on the same piece. A parent restroom wall unit and a bedroom dresser with a pad on top are different products. Put the room, the licensed infant places and the finish on the PO — not a catalogue thumbnail.

Is a daycare changing table the same as a Koala Kare restroom station?

No. A commercial restroom changing station is built for a public toilet and a parent standing in a stall. An infant-room changing table for daycare is a classroom piece: drawers or open cubes for centre supplies, a pad the room owns, and a sightline back to the mats. West Shore does not treat those two SKUs as substitutes on a room list.

Does a US daycare changing table need 16 CFR 1235?

If the SKU is a baby changing product under CPSC’s definition — an elevated changing table, add-on changing unit, changing-table accessory or contoured changing pad — 16 CFR part 1235 applies and incorporates ASTM F2388-21 for goods manufactured after 31 July 2022. CPSC does not certify brands. The importer issues a Children’s Product Certificate that cites 16 CFR part 1235 against a report that matches that SKU. Ask counsel and the lab whether your named station is in scope. West Shore will not stamp “CPSC certified” on a drawer front.

Can I use a home changing table in a daycare infant room?

A domestic changing table sold for one baby in a bedroom is rarely the right commercial station. It usually lacks the storage a teacher uses with one hand, the finish a daily wipe-down needs, and the papers a US children’s-product line requires. West Shore specifies a classroom changing station for the infant room and keeps sleep on the cribs guide. Do not borrow a parent’s Ikea topper and call it the infant wall.

How many changing tables does a daycare infant room need?

Enough for the licensed infant places and the staff pattern — not one island in the middle of the mats. Most rooms hold the station on a wall the teacher can see from, next to the sink the licence and the health inspector will ask about. West Shore will not invent a statutory ratio. Write the licensed places on the floor plan and we will mark the station, not guess a number from a Pinterest grid.

Should a daycare changing table have casters?

Casters help a cleaner pull the station off the wall. They do not make the station a rolling cart during a change. Lock them before a child is on the pad. Fixed feet are cleaner when the wall is frozen and the sink is already next to it. West Shore writes lockable casters or fixed feet on the drawing — not both as a last-minute email after freeze.

Send the floor plan, licensed infant places, sink location and opening date. West Shore returns the station, the crib line and the mats on one layout — and marks which changing table is stock versus leftover millimetres.
