Early Years Funding Furniture Guide for UK Nurseries
Furniture lists, capacity-honest drawings and indoor/outdoor splits that UK early years providers can attach to a project documentation — without West Shore writing the grant application.
- The application stays with the service (your funding provider). We do not write the project documentation, submit it, or promise an award.
- We produce a furniture annex: room-by-room quantities, a drawing that matches place counts, and indoor versus outdoor lines.
- Capital rounds change. Confirm the live DfE or local-authority note. Funded hours for families are not a furniture budget. Capital rules often treat fixtures and fit-out differently from loose toys and consumables.
- Read the current scheme notes: GOV.UK funded childcare hours そして school-based nursery / capital notes on GOV.UK.
Quoted for delivery across the UK. Extra places, extensions and sessional-to-full-day moves all still need a drawing that survives usable-space maths.
Evidence a UK furniture file usually needs
Capacity-honest layout
Place counts must survive clear-floor maths after furniture is placed. A drawing that shows 14 toddlers in a room that only nets 10 will stall a project documentation as fast as a missing quote.

Room list by age band
Sleep, changing and toddler seating belong on their own room sheet, not mixed into a 3–5 chair schedule.

Fixtures versus movable
Fixed storage, changing, sleep furniture and accessible pieces often sit in the capital conversation. Loose parts, toys and consumables usually stay on an operator-funded column. We split the quote so the project documentation is not carrying a toy shop.
Keep toys on educational toys UK as a separate line
Indoor versus outdoor split
Do not bury a garden in a single classroom lump sum. UK files read faster when the room and the yard are separate schedules.

Additional-needs lines
List additional-needs pieces. Do not hide them inside “misc furniture”.

Furniture annex pack
A plan, piece counts, and two columns: proposed capital fixtures versus operator-funded movable. Your design team pastes that into the project documentation. West Shore does not file the application.

What usually delays a UK furniture grant file
Lump-sum quotes
One number for “classroom furniture” cannot be checked against a room or an eligible-cost heading.
Drawings that do not match
The project documentation place count, the EYFS-aligned net area and the furniture list have to describe the same UK room.
Toys inside capital
Recent purchasing and construction notes have treated movable furniture, toys and consumables as outside typical capital eligibility. Split them before the file goes in.
Windows and match-funding change by round. Do not treat a closed 2025 date as a live opening. Check the current GOV.UK or local-authority note.
What to send so we can build the annex
A floor plan (PDF or a dimensioned photo), the age mix, how many extra places by age band you are creating, and whether the garden is in scope. We return a UK delivery quote with capital-candidate fixtures and operator-funded movable items in separate columns.
Inspection language for the same rooms sits on the EYFS-aligned furniture guide.
よくある質問
Do you write the project documentation or submit the early years capital funding application?
No. The service owns the capital or local-authority file. We supply a furniture and layout annex your design team can attach.
Will tables and chairs automatically qualify for early years capital funding?
Not automatically. Eligibility is the scheme’s. We split fixtures from movable items so the file is readable. We do not decide what qualifies.
Do funded hours pay for tables?
No. Entitlements reduce eligible family fees. Furniture stays on the operator or capital line. Confirm any live capital round on GOV.UK or with the local authority.
Is this only for settings adding places?
No. Any UK nursery can ask for a furniture annex. Eligibility for a named capital round is the scheme’s rule, not ours.
How is this different from the EYFS furniture guide?
The EYFS guide is the inspection-room language. This page is the capital annex. Most extensions need both, and neither is an award.
What do you need from us to quote?
Plan, ages, extra places by age band, indoor/outdoor scope. We quote delivery across UK and mark what is typically capital versus operator-funded.
